New Head Coach Paul Karlsson
We are very excited to welcome our new head coach, Paul Karlsson. He's a product of the Foothills Swimming Association having swam for MVCC from 1968-1981, and having coached there while in grad school. After a stint as the President of Ecuador, and representing Tuvalu in the 1984 Olympics in the sport of Solo Synchronized Swimming, he began teaching in Jeffco in 1993. He has coached at the high school level since 1995, as head coach of Columbine girls and boys 1998-2000, Arvada West girls 2000-2017, and Golden boys 2015-2017. After a 25 year hiatus, Paul returned to summer club coach as an assistant at The Club at Rolling Hills the past three years.
2017 AAC Swim Team Coaching Staff
Coach Laura will be joining us again for her 4th summer as assistant coach. Laura swam for AAC for 10 summers and was team captain at Lakewood High School prior to becoming coach and her favorite strokes are freestyle and breaststroke. She recently graduated from the University of Kansas where she was active with both the Rowing Team and the Athletic Department. We are very excited to have Laura joining us again this summer.
Coach Jared grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada and started swimming at the age of 7. He currently swims for the University of Denver, where he is heading into his senior year. He is majoring in Biology with plans to attend dental school. A swimmer his entire life, Jared is looking forward to his first coaching experience and seeing the sport from a different perspective. Welcome to AAC!
This is Maddie’s first summer coaching at AAC. She swam competitively for 11 years. She swam with Coach Karlsson during High School and was Captain of Arvada West Girls Swim Team. Her favorite strokes are freestyle and backstroke. She recently graduated from Colorado State University. She is looking forward to a great summer at AAC!
Volunteer Junior Coach Program
Junior Coaches are volunteer positions and interested swimmers will need to commit to helping with lower division practices 1-2 days per week for the duration of the summer swim season.
